Salon Holds Memorial and Fundraiser for Local Hair Stylist | Cosmetics

A salon in Reno is raising funds for a family that lost their loved one before Christmas.

California Highway Patrol says 28-year-old Kailee Seal died in a rollover crash on SR 44 near Susanville on December 23. The heartbreaking tragedy brought the community together at Jensen & Co. on Sunday. The salon held a celebration of life and fundraiser at its location. Several people attended the event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The salon's owner, Brian Jensen said Seal is greatly missed and she touched the hearts of many people in town.

"She really brought this different kind of energy. She was very bright and airy, and her laughter... Her laugh was so recognizable. We all just loved her for it. She really helped us through a hard transition time and just became a big shining bright spot in all of our lives." said Jensen.

Kailee had been working at Jensen & Co. as a hairstylist for about three years. During her celebration of life her former colleagues wore pink t-shirts with her picture to honor her. The salon was also taking donations and providing  its usual services. Jensen & Co. Salon will be donating 100% of all monies raised on Sunday to Seal's family. Services that were available that day ranged from haircuts, coloring, gel manicures, gel pedicures, waxing, blow outs, deep conditioning, eyelashes, makeup touch ups, etc. There was also a silent auction.

Jensen says he held the event to help Seal's family during the tough time, and because she was the salon's family too.

"Even if we have 46 people that work here, we're all very close and we're a family. It's great that not only we know that, but the community knows that as well. And they know how close we are and how much of a loss this is for us. And you know it's just, as hard as it is to be here today to be doing this. But we're really fortunate to be doing this for her and honoring her as well as her family." said Jensen.

Seal's family also attended the event; her mother said she appreciates the salon's efforts and the community's support.

"It's very overwhelming and amazing to see how much love everybody had for her and for us, and how less than 10 years or so that she lived here... how much of an impact she had on people's lives." said Sandee Freude, Seal's mother.

Jensen & Co. will be selling pink t-shirts with Kailee's picture. If you would like to purchase one, you can place an order by calling Jensen and Co. (775) 657-6576. The money raised from t-shirt sales will also go to Seal's family.

ORIGINAL STORY:

California Highway Patrol says a Reno woman died in a rollover crash on SR 44 near Susanville this past Monday evening.

CHP says 28-year-old Kailee Seal was driving her 2004 Nissan Pathfinder west on SR 44 near the Shasta/Lassen County line when her SUV hit patches of snow and ice on the road. The SUV then hit a paddle marker and rolled over onto some large rocks.

CHP says one of those giant rocks hit the driver’s side door causing major injuries to Seal.

CHP says the SUV then rolled a second time and the driver door hit another rock causing further injuries to Seal.

The SUV finally stopped near a small tree.

Seal died on scene, while her passenger was not hurt. CHP says no rocks hit that person.

Seal’s sister was following the Pathfinder in a separate car. They were headed home to Redding when the crash happened.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family.
