Born on December 7, 1922, in Frankell, Texas, Heye was the daughter of David Houston and Clara Marie Corn Kemp. She spent her early years near the oil fields of West Texas, San Antonio, and Ingleside, Texas.
In 1940, she graduated from Ingleside High School and later pursued a career in nursing, graduating from Hermann Hospital School of Nursing in Houston. During her time at nursing school, Heye crossed paths with a medical intern, Randall G. Heye, whom she married on January 13, 1943. Together, they embarked on a journey that took them from Baltimore, Maryland, to Houston, Texas, before settling in Plainview in 1951.
Known affectionately as Jean, Frau, or Ma Ma to her friends and family, she was a devoted mother to her three children: Kathy, Abigail, and Randy (Randall G. Heye, Jr.), who sadly passed away in May 1995. Heye was also a loving wife for 53 years to Randall G. Heye, M.D., who preceded her in death. Afterward, she found companionship in her marriage to Roy Roberts, M.D. for 11 years.
Jean was known for her unwavering love for her children and her active involvement in their various activities. She lent her support to Scouts, the school band under the guidance of O.T. Ryan and Chief Davidson, and numerous church activities. In addition, Jean was an active member of various community organizations, including the Junior Service League, P.T.A., Delphin Club, Art Association, Bridge Club, Well Baby Clinic, D.A.R., P.E.O., and the Investment Club.
