A new Safeway is now open in south Reno.
The 62,000 square foot store is located along Steamboat Parkway in the Damonte Ranch Town Center.
The store is expected to bring around 170 new jobs to our area.
And - it's already helping Northern Nevada!
During Wednesday’s grand opening ceremony, Safeway donated $5,000 to the Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation.
"This money they're donating today is going to help out kids with their financial needs, the journeys to and from treatment and their emotional needs. It's going to provide a lot of support for those families,” says Shirley Folkins-Roberts, Executive Director, Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation.
Safeway also has a fully staffed pharmacy which is already offering walk-up COVID-19 vaccinations.
