Linda Noll Obituary, Death – He died away on Thursday, October 28, 2021, as a result of the debilitating effects of dementia as well as brain injuries sustained as a result of a fall. Since March of 2021, she had been calling the Kingston at Dupont Memory Care Center in Washington, District of Columbia, her home.

She was the daughter of Jesse Ashenfelter Lantz and Paul K. Lantz and was born on September 25, 1949 at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne.  Her father was Paul K. Lantz. She received her high school diploma from North Side in 1967 and her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Indiana University in 1971.

She was born and raised in Fort Wayne. Lindy attended Indiana University and received her Master of Science degree in Elementary Education there in 1975. She taught kindergarten at Price Elementary and second grade at Washington Center Elementary during her time as a teacher for the Fort Wayne Community Schools.

Her career as a teacher was quite successful. On June 30, 1973, Lindy and Michael Noll exchanged vows and became husband and wife. When Lindy stepped up on Michael’s doorstep in July of 1970 and asked whether he would subscribe to the Journal Gazette, which she delivered, Michael claims that it was love at first sight. According to Michael, it was love at first sight.

They had been seeing each other for two years before eloping and getting married in the rear of a grocery shop in Roanoke, Indiana, by Robert Simmons, who was a Justice of the Peace. She felt a great deal of pride in the fact that they had been married for 48 years. Thomas Michael Noll, who was born in Chicago, Illinois, is Lindy and Michael’s only child.

During the time that Tom was in school, she was extremely involved in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), serving as president of the PTA at both Shambaugh Elementary School and Northwood Middle School. She has a lifetime membership in the Indiana Parent Teacher Association. Lindy adored anything that had to do with the outdoors or with animals.

As someone who had spent her childhood on the banks of the St. Joe River, she found great enjoyment in walking along its trails. Both she and Michael were big fans of the Fort Wayne Civic Theatre, where they saw many performances. Lindy is survived by her husband, son, and two nephews, Steve and David Lantz. She will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Larry Lantz; nephew, Scott Lantz; and parents-in-law, LaVera and Dawson Noll. “We would like to especially thank the entire staff at Kingston at Dupont for their professional and compassionate care,” the family said in a statement. “As well as the Heartland Hospice Team who provided much care and comfort to Lindy, Michael, and Tom in Lindy’s final days.”

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, located at 1320 East Dupont Road in Fort Wayne. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Officiating during the ceremony was Pastor James Conn. At a later time, a private interment will take place in Circle Cemetery, which is located close to Hudson, Indiana.
