Linda McCormick Obituary, MD Carrollton GA Pediatrician Sadly Passes On

Linda McCormick Obituary, Death – After a seven-month struggle with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), Dr. Linda Barstow McCormick, 62, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on December 10, 2023 at Emory University Hospital. When she passed away, her devoted family was by her side. Dr. William E. Barstow and Anne McElroy Cummings welcomed Dr. McCormick into the world on February 1, 1961, in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

The hometown of Dr. McCormick is Athens, Georgia. In 1979, the year she graduated from Cedar Shoals High School, she won the title of Athens Junior Miss. She continued her education at the University of Georgia, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology with honours and a Magna Cum Laude degree. She met Mark McCormick, the love of her life, at the University of Georgia.

On April 14, 1984, Mark McCormick and Linda Barstow tied the knot at the First Presbyterian Church in Athens, Georgia. They relocated to Augusta, Georgia, where Dr. McCormick enrolled in the Medical College of Georgia to further his medical education. Dr. McCormick finished her paediatric residency at the University of Alabama Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, following her graduation from MCG.

For thirty-two years, Dr. McCormick practiced paediatrics in Carrollton. In July 1991, she started working at Carousel Paediatrics. Following the merger of Tanner Medical Group and Carousel Paediatrics, Dr. McCormick joined Tanner Healthcare for Children. People have spoken highly of Dr. McCormick as a very caring and sympathetic doctor.

She loved her patients and travelled the world on numerous medical mission missions, sharing her enthusiasm for healing. Dr. McCormick had a deep appreciation for travel, yoga, and the arts. Dr. McCormick sang in several productions throughout the years and was a choir member of Carrollton First United Methodist Church and Carrollton Community Chorus. She was outside whenever possible and usually attended yoga courses at Red Rock Wellness.

Husband Mark McCormick, children Heather McCormick Ford (Will), Caitlin McCormick Puckett (Summer), and Dr. Patrick James McCormick (Kaitlyn), grandchildren James Ford, Charlotte Ford, Madison McCormick, and Middleton McCormick, parents Drs. William Barstow and Anne Cummings, and sister Susan Ahrens (Karl) are the only people left to cherish Dr. Linda McCormick’s memory. Dr. Robert Brown will preside at a Celebration of Life scheduled for Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Carrollton at 11 AM. Tanner Medical Foundation is accepting memorial donations in Dr. Linda McCormick’s honour in place of flowers.
