One person has died following a crash on Birchs Rd in Prebbleton, Canterbury last night.
Two people were taken to hospital with moderate injuries after the incident.
Police said an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
The crash brings the official holiday road toll to six.
It comes after one person died following a single-vehicle crash on Methven Highway in Ashburton on Christmas Day.
