First pictures from Edgware 'murder' scene after teenager stabbed to death in brutal 1am attack

Police have launched a murder investigation as a heavy police presence remains in the area

The first pictures from an Edgware crime scene show blood on the pavement after a teenager was stabbed to death. Police were called to Whitchurch Lane near the junction with Buckingham Road shortly after 1am this morning (Friday, July 28).

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the 19-year-old man sadly died at the scene. Police have now launched a murder investigation as his next of kin have been informed. The road was shut in both directions earlier this morning as officers carried out enquiries.

Although the road has since reopened, pictures from the scene show an alleyway remains closed off between Mozzafellas and Carpet Street. A discarded knife can be seen behind the emergency tape in this area.

Another picture shows what appears to be blood has been washed off the pavement outside Edgware Halal Butchers.

The stabbing took place about half a mile southwest of Edgware Underground station.

A spokesperson for Met Police said: "Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD334/28Jul. You can also provide information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
