Erin Burch Obituary, Death – We like to express our deepest condolences to the Burch family on the demise of our beloved member, Erin. At the age of 19, Erin became a member of the Mechanicsville Volunteer Squad in order to pursue a career as an emergency medical technician. In March of 1978, she was elected to Active membership in the organization.
Over the course of many years, Erin was a very active member who typically answered calls on a daily basis. During her many years of service, she held a variety of positions, including those of Orientation Officer, Lieutenant, Sergeant, Chair of the By-Law Committee, Run Reports monitor, Instrumentation Technician, and Secretary for thirteen years.
Over the course of her stay in this location, she spent thirteen years working as a dispatcher for St. Mary’s County. A small period of time was spent with her serving as an Associate Member of the Advanced Life Support Unit of St. Mary’s County. Additionally, she was a member of the Leonardtown Volunteer Rescue Squad for a limited period of time.
The Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad Auxiliary counted her as one of its founding members to begin with.
Erin was the person responsible for maintaining the corporate memory of MVRS over the course of several decades; she was the one who remembered everything that Joyce Downs and Dr. Roache did not recall.
Erin was a member of the department who was well regarded and valuable, and she will be greatly missed by everyone. Her contributions were numerous and over the years, they assisted in the expansion of our department.
