Eric Hahn Obituary, Death – Due to a technical cave diving mishap that occurred at a depth of 190 feet, Eric Lee Hahn, who was 27 years old and from Blacksburg, Virginia, passed away on October 14, 2022 in Roaring River State Park, which is located in Cassville, Missouri. In the past, Eric was a member of the cave diving team known as the KISS Rebreathers.
For the purpose of the Roaring River State Park, the group was working on a documentary as well as developing a three-dimensional map and model of the cave system. An underwater tunnel network and spring that is considered to be the deepest in North America can be found somewhere in this cave. The 3rd of July, 1995 found Eric being born in Charlottesville, Virginia.
He is a graduate of Albemarle High School, where he participated in the MESA (Math, Engineering Science Academy) curriculum. He received his education from the Albemarle County Public Schools. He was a member of the F.I.R.S.T Robotics Team 619 and was chosen to participate in the Northrop Grumman WORTHY Engineering Program.
For the purpose of furthering his education, he attended Virginia Tech in order to earn a degree in Computer Engineering. In addition to his studies, he worked as a software engineer at Torc Robotics, a firm that specializes in the development of technology for autonomous vehicles. The entire purpose of Eric’s existence was to save other people. Both as a member of the Blacksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad and as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician.
He volunteered his time to help those in need. Eric did scuba diving and caving in his spare time. He enjoyed both activities. In addition to being a member of the Scuba Club of Virginia Tech, he served as the Vice President of the VPI Cave Club, which is affiliated with the National Speleological Society. Eric is survived by his parents, Linda and Gordon; his brothers, Alexander, Dylan, and Heidi; his grandparents, Elbert Dale and Erika Hahn; his uncles, Kelvin Dale (Davey) and Mike (Suzanne), Ingold, Simeon (Loretta), and Nick (Sara) Hahn; and his extended family in the United States of America and Australia, Germany, and Switzerland. His maternal grandmother, Irene Dale, and his paternal grandfather, Dr. Walter Hahn, passed away before him. He was the last of his family members to pass away.
