Elna Waful Obituary, Death – The community of Alice Lloyd College is in mourning after learning of the demise of Irma Dawn Derderian Stepp, who was affectionately known as “Miss Irma.” Irma had a relatively brief illness before she passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at the age of 88.
Students greatly awaited their daily visits to the bookshop because they knew they would be greeted with a friendly embrace from Miss Irma, along with a welcoming smile and reassuring words of encouragement.
In addition, students were aware that they would receive these things whenever they entered the bookshop. She exhibited the capacity to recall each child’s name, which was impressive. After that, she went around and gave each person a hug, saying, “I have affection for you, but the love of God surpasses mine!” She served the College for a total of 22 years, during which time she was a trusted advisor, mentor, and surrogate grandmother to a large number of students.
Miss Irma had a lifelong commitment to the Lord and served as a faithful member of the Caney Baptist Church for a total of 22 years during her lifetime. She was known for her unwavering trust in God throughout her entire life. During the course of the several fundraising activities that took place on campus, Miss Irma provided significant help to practically all of the organizations that were involved. In addition to that, she broadened the scope of her activities to include church projects and events held in the community. She was compelled to help people who were having financial troubles and she did it in a consistent manner and whenever it was possible to do so.
