Darling John Obituary, Death – It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John William Nichols, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and cherished member of the community. Born on April 30th, 1939, John peacefully departed on December 17th, 2023, at the age of 84. His passing comes just eight weeks shy of what would have been the celebration of his remarkable 60th Wedding Anniversary. John was more than a name; he was the darling husband, devoted lover, and the very essence of life for his wife, Jan.
Together, they built a life full of love, shared dreams, and countless memories. As they approached their 60th Wedding Anniversary, John closed his eyes, leaving behind a legacy of enduring love and commitment. A loving father to Jason and Mark, and a proud father-in-law to Trudi and Katie, John’s warmth and guidance were a constant source of strength for his family. His role as a grandfather was one he embraced with pride, delighting in the joys of grandchildren: Jamieson, Cooper, Georgia, Charlotte, Alexandra, and Darcy.
The funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of John William Nichols will take place on Friday, December 22nd, 2023, at 11:00 am at the N J Todd Funeral Home – ‘Feehan Chapel,’ 81 Baddaginnie-Benalla Road, Benalla, Victoria 3672. Friends, family, and well-wishers are invited to join in commemorating the life of a man who touched the hearts of many. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Benalla Palliative Care in memory of John. Envelopes will be available at the service for those who wish to contribute. A private cremation will follow the funeral service.
